TRADITIONAL VILLAGE FESTIVAL OF AUGUST 15th

weekend of August 15th

Laruns puts on its best Ossalois costume to experience and share strong cultural moments. For 4 days the village comes alive with the sound of flutes and tamb ou rines. Traditions, concerts, exchanges, discoveries and games will then punctuate village life. An unmissable event to discover Ossaloise culture!

A point of honor is nevertheless placed on the day of August 15…

Traditionally called “ Hesto de nouste damo ”, August 15 is a key date for all the inhabitants of Laruns and all the Ossalois , it is the traditional village party

The inhabitants then come together for a colorful day to discover the traditional costumes, dances and songs of the Ossau Valley . The singers and dancers dress up in their most beautiful costumes to liven up the village throughout the day, culminating in its traditional Ossalois ball.

Two days of pastoralism, tradition and gastronomy. Demonstrations of sheep-shearing, cheese-making, shepherd dog work… Street entertainment (singing, dancing, traditional music), tasting workshops, street market with over a hundred exhibitors. Farmhouse cheese retail sales.
